Where can I search?
Find My Past has a huge number of record collections and gives you the option of searching all of them at once, focussing on a single set you choose, or operating on a group of related records. There will be times when each of these is the most useful strategy to employ.
Search all records is at the top of the list and describes exactly what it does. This option will enable you to search at one time all the records that are relevant to the geographical region you select.
Each one of the next nine menu entries take you to a search page for one of the groups used by Find My Past to bring some order to the enormous number of records. When you choose one of these, you will be searching a smaller number of records than doing a Search all.
The last menu item, labelled List of all records, takes you to a list that describes every record set held by Find My Past. The list is organised by two dimensions -- geographical region and record category -- to make it easier to locate the topic in which you are interested. When you locate its name, click on the hyperlink to be taken to a search page that will be restricted to just that single set of records.
